Wordpress 2.2 Upgrade Headaches

So I upgraded to Wordpress 2.2 last night and all supposedly went smooth, until I viewed my blog. The sidebar went crazy so I tried downgrading to 2.1.3 to maybe fix the sidebar — my backups were fine, the MySQL backup didn’t want to import into phpMyAdmin so I am using the Qwilm theme until I can work out something more permanent.

If you liked this post, buy me a coffee!

I had the sameproblem with WordPress 2.2 sidebarsand it was easily solved.

The problem lies with the fact that widgets are now included in the core and some of them are turned on by default when you install 2.2.

Just go into the widgets menu and drag all of them out of your sidebar.

That should solve the sidebar issue.

    Hope it helps.

Thanks for the heads up — I knew widgets were placed into WP 2.2 but it just never clicked that the widgets could be causing it. Everything is back to normal now, hurrah.
