New from Square Enix good for some, bad for others. According to Playstation Universe, Square Enix has changed their business model to focus on remakes and sequels of their existing franchises. Said remakes and sequels will apparently be released across all platforms (there’s some good news in light of the bad), even including mobile phones.
The Japanese release of the Final Fantasy collections are selling quickly and in huge numbers over in Japan, so it’s no wonder Square Enix is heading this way. If gamers demand it, Square Enix should make it, especially a Final Fantasy VII sequel (they have my support!).
The Final Fantasy titles are somewhat always sequels anyway, considering they were always made in the same universe.
So what do you non-fans and fans alike think? Is it a good idea, a bad idea or should Square Enix totally rethink their new ‘business direction’?

The Final Fantasy titles were always set in utterly different universes. The only thing that generally carried over were the themes (and chocobos).
Where’s the submit button?
Hm, maybe they where (must not have been thinking when I wrote the post!). The chocobos always carried over, yes. And the theme was always alike too. You do have a point there.
And there is a submit button, but sometimes it’s hidden behind something though because in the CSS I had to expand the comments div right out to the edge of the sidebar, otherwise there was a huge gap in the sidebar making the whole blog look ugly.
I have only been playin FF for a year now. I have the FF games for PS2 and FFI and II for PSP. What I think SquareEnix should do is remake all the FF games for PSP. That might seem outrageous, but if if FF I and II sold so much for PSP why whouldn’t III through XII. It would be awesome! And since a lot of people, including myself were not able to play the “old” FF games, it would make a lot of people happy to be able to play them. PLEASE MAKE ALL FF GAMES FOR PSP!!!
